Copy-editing for a US audience

This UK educational publisher was adapting its series of Science study aids for use in US high schools.

In addition to copy-editing a large number of documents, we made sure that American English spellings and idioms were used throughout and that any British culturally specific references were replaced with the equivalent US phrases. For example, we changed "tap" to "faucet" and "polystyrene" to "Styrofoam".
