With over 25 years of combined marketing and copywriting experience, Wendy Knerr and Jon Stacey have helped clients in the UK, Europe and the US to find the right concepts, copy and approach to communicate their message and brand.

Wendy Knerr
I've provided a broad range of clients with highly creative, professional and targeted copywriting and communications consultancy ... from Procter and Gamble to Oxfam, Microsoft to Miller Beer.

Before founding The Write Effect, I worked as Direct Marketing Copywriter for Northlich, the Midwest USA's largest advertising agency; Editor of The Writer's Digest Book Club, the largest writer's book catalogue in North America; and a Contributing Editor and Writer to Writer's Digest, Personal Journaling and ID (International Design) magazines.

In 2001, I launched The Write Effect in Austin, Texas, USA, providing copywriting to the IT, financial, advertising and publishing sectors. Then in 2003, I served as Communications Officer for the non-profit International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) European Network in Brussels, Belgium. In 2005, I moved to Oxford, UK, where I re-launched The Write Effect with Jon Stacey.

If you're looking for a writer to brainstorm ideas for a business pitch or project, my agency background means I'm ready to contribute as part of your creative team. And if you need help coming up with creative concepts and copy for marketing materials or a big event, I'm highly skilled at filling this need.

My experience working with charities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and as a trustee for the UK-based charity The Pleasure Project, means I have an inside understanding of how charities work and how to communicate their messages.

Jon Stacey
I can offer the benefit of over ten years client-side experience in marketing, particularly in business-to-business and direct marketing. Much of my career has been spent in the publishing sector, with Which? magazine, Reed Business Information and OAG.

Most recently, I have been providing technical writing and editing to a variety of international development and research agencies, as well as to the education publishing sector.

I've been involved in the promotion of a wide range of information-based products such as magazines, books, newsletters, conferences, exhibitions and online services, using both traditional and online marketing media. This has included:

  • direct mail
  • inserts
  • off-the-page advertising
  • sales promotion
  • lead generation
  • email campaigns
  • websites
  • and e-newsletters.

My work has covered industries including travel, transportation, utilities, property, aerospace and agriculture.

In addition to copywriting services, I'm also able to offer assistance with direct marketing campaign planning, execution and analysis for UK and international audiences.

With a degree in Modern Languages from Exeter University, I'm also able to translate from French and German into English.
